Asian league, Asian tracks, Asian weather.

This Sunday marks the 8th round of the Flat 6 Series. This time its Singapore. The calendar has been fixed earlier the season to match the real life counterpart. Thr race shoots off on Sunday 2 hours before the real F1 Singaporen GP.

The tale from last week's race in Eastern Creek has Fadzli Jamil failed to get his car onto the grid both on Sprint and Feature race. This has stretched Niranjan Kumar's championship lead further. Altho the midtable battle is still pretty much close.

Looking at the calendar we will have 3 up coming Flat 6 round races after Singapore and with the final round of the Formula Renault 3.5 before closing the series with a finale in Shanghai.

The race will be with real live weather, as usual.

See you guys on track!

Edmund Wong 1974 NASCAR Champion!

This Wednesday marks the last round of the 1974 NASCAR series 2016 which will take place in the Mountains Peak Speedway. And it has also mark the championship has been sealed by Edmund Wong from Hong Kong Simracers with 47 points. The closest running is Jacek Fraczek (Gornes) from Japan with 36 points and will be under attack from Chris Payne from Tri-Continental Racing and Audie Devanugraha from Indonesia.

Also worth watching is the addition of Fadzli Jamil from Malaysian Simracers into the ovals and which he won his first race last week in Brookdale Speedway. That is also due to Chris Payne had a very early off and struggled to get back into the race.

Hopefully Wednesdays finale will go smooth for all for us to see close racing from start to finish thru livestream by rF2AsiaTV!

Congratulations to Edmund Wong from Hong Kong Simracers!

Flat6 Series is back!

After a long break, Round 7 is finally here and its going to be held in the unforgiving Eastern Creek. With 6 more rounds to go, even with Niranjan Kumar stamping a clear lead in the championship standings, Fadzli Jamil is not that far away in second place.

The placing down to 11th place is very tight and anything can happen until the end of the series that will close with the race in Shanghai early November.

Close fights all over the standings.

Gornes vs Kelvinder
Yong Jie Wong vs Audie
Sik Eu vs Gordon vs Liang vs Indra
Chris vs Marcus vs Steven vs Arwin vs Edmund
Kelvin Wong vs Fohat vs Imam

And looking at the series schedule, theres gonna be a very busy month of October with 3 races, almost back to back.

Special Interview with Jan Han Liang

An avid motorsports fan, a karter and a senior simracer, The rF2 Asia Series Formula ISI and Formula Renault 3.5 Champion of 2015, Jan Han Liang, talking about his passion and his journey in sim racing through all the years.

"It all started with NFS Shift(2009), albeit not a proper sim racing title, it introduced me to a genre of racing game that I never knew, one that attempts to replicate a higher level of realism. It was from there I began searching for "the most realistic" racing game, that search then led me to Rfactor and the fantastic bunch of people at Malaysian Sim Racers(MSR).

Back then, I bought a used Logitech Wingman Formula GP wheel at a cheap price of RM80 because I couldn't drive NFS Shift with keyboard. Realised it was shit when I tried it with Rfactor, it was quickly replaced with a used Logitech MOMO. The search for realism slowly made me move on from the MOMO to the Driving Force Pro, then the DFGT, G25 after that, and finally the G27. These 6 years of sim racing also brought me from a puny 14" laptop with plastic chair to a big ass 19" CRT monitor, from a proper 24" monitor to my current 40" TV setup with MPC Racing cockpit.

Over the years, sim racing has taught me much. Especially when racecraft and car control can be applied in my amateur karting hobby as well as defensive driving on public roads. In addition, the races in MSR among friends showed me how to respect friends and fellow drivers in a heated race.

And it wasn't just about the online racing. The practice I got from online racing also led me to a few proud and unforgettable moments competing in public sim racing competitions such as the time when I got runner up in the 2015 RaceXP tournament.

Though it may not always be all smiles in my years or sim racing, such as being crashed into during a race after spending days practicing, or having to put up with terrible wheel setup in a pay-to-race tournament, or experiencing disconnection during a race. It is still a pleasure to be able to continue doing what I do, as sim racing also taught me that small disappointments can never be avoided, just like how F1 drivers have to deal with car reliability issues.

With real life motorsports being too costly, sim racing is the closest I can get to real racing with my limited budget and other financial commitments. In short, that's why I'm so into sim racing."

rFactor 2 - Kamal long return, eversince the BETA phase.

Kamal Afiq or better known as Camel90 is an avid karter, motosports enthusiast and veteran simracer from MSR (Malaysian Simracers) who started his simracing career in 2005 as an avid drifter in LFS and raced his early years doing multiple seasons with multiple series with rFactor 1 from then until 2011 and until the early BETA release of rFactor 2 where he took a long hiatus.

Here he shares a short account of his return journey to simracing, More specifically on how rFactor 2 has evolved :-
1. Basically, the comeback to rf2 is a spur of the moment kind of thing. I got a new wheels (G25) from Liang at a super cheap bargain (Thanks Liang), found out about the rF2 is on sale at steam. that's pretty much it really.
2. Actually, Liang passed me the wheels early this year but I bought AC and stick with LFS instead because they were so easy to install (not talking about physics here). Now that I’m working sometime to late at night, I really don’t like fiddling with the folders/files to set up before I can drive. (I remember my time with rf1 and we have bro pitt editing the mods? I was one of his tester, hahaha). LFS and AC gave me this advantage as they are as easy as clicking the ‘Race’ button.
3. with rf2 on steam, the new rf2 layout (managing mods, server listing, and etc) everything seems extremely smooth. it has come a long way since when we were racing with MSR before 2011. I don’t need to spend time or scratch my head with .rfmod file. All I have to do, log on to the server, download the required mods (auto download) and I’m good to go.
4. Race wise tonight, well. No practice. Tried to keep up with those guys but ended up crashing due to my mistake. Haha.
5. Cars are awesome, the FFB is just awesome and help a lot in controlling the tail happy sls, track is great. Physics a lot better than lfs,ac that I’ve been playing for the past 3 months (duh).
6. I read somewhere about the rf2 graphics ? IMO, there’s already an improvement from the last time I raced with rf2 especially night race. Maybe there are platforms with better graphics out there, but as you know Mara, I don’t really bother much about graphics, I just want to drive. Back in 2006 I had the lowest cpu spec among you all and ended up reducing the setting to the lowest just so I could have a smooth non lagging race, best part I was still enjoying and smiling back then. Haha
7. I’ll join more rf2 asia races from now on of course. It’s good to be back.

Formula Renaullt 3.5 - Round 5 - Silverstone

14 cars on the grid for the Round 5 of the Formula Renault 3.5 race in Silverstone last Sunday. An action packed race saw Niranjan Kumar is at it again by fetching another win (from pole position) this time from the closest challenger on the grid that day, Christopher Fraser from Sim Racing Australia Team Harmontown and Arwin Taruna from Sim Racing Indonesia with an epic Jagonya Ayam paintwork on the car.

Niranjan Kumar pace went un challenged from the start yet there are plenty of action happened up and down the grid all along the race. Most notably the contraversial incident between Gornes and Dani Antiquera.

Niranjan is comfortably leading the series by quite a margin to the nearest challenger, Arwin Taruna and Edmund Wong from Hong Kong Simracers. Fadzli Jamil unfortunately are not keen into running any open wheelers.

The race has been recorded and now waiting delayed commentary by Dan Marr. It will be published as soon as its ready. Stay tuned!
