rFactor 2 - Kamal long return, eversince the BETA phase.

Kamal Afiq or better known as Camel90 is an avid karter, motosports enthusiast and veteran simracer from MSR (Malaysian Simracers) who started his simracing career in 2005 as an avid drifter in LFS and raced his early years doing multiple seasons with multiple series with rFactor 1 from then until 2011 and until the early BETA release of rFactor 2 where he took a long hiatus.

Here he shares a short account of his return journey to simracing, More specifically on how rFactor 2 has evolved :-
1. Basically, the comeback to rf2 is a spur of the moment kind of thing. I got a new wheels (G25) from Liang at a super cheap bargain (Thanks Liang), found out about the rF2 is on sale at steam. that's pretty much it really.
2. Actually, Liang passed me the wheels early this year but I bought AC and stick with LFS instead because they were so easy to install (not talking about physics here). Now that I’m working sometime to late at night, I really don’t like fiddling with the folders/files to set up before I can drive. (I remember my time with rf1 and we have bro pitt editing the mods? I was one of his tester, hahaha). LFS and AC gave me this advantage as they are as easy as clicking the ‘Race’ button.
3. with rf2 on steam, the new rf2 layout (managing mods, server listing, and etc) everything seems extremely smooth. it has come a long way since when we were racing with MSR before 2011. I don’t need to spend time or scratch my head with .rfmod file. All I have to do, log on to the server, download the required mods (auto download) and I’m good to go.
4. Race wise tonight, well. No practice. Tried to keep up with those guys but ended up crashing due to my mistake. Haha.
5. Cars are awesome, the FFB is just awesome and help a lot in controlling the tail happy sls, track is great. Physics a lot better than lfs,ac that I’ve been playing for the past 3 months (duh).
6. I read somewhere about the rf2 graphics ? IMO, there’s already an improvement from the last time I raced with rf2 especially night race. Maybe there are platforms with better graphics out there, but as you know Mara, I don’t really bother much about graphics, I just want to drive. Back in 2006 I had the lowest cpu spec among you all and ended up reducing the setting to the lowest just so I could have a smooth non lagging race, best part I was still enjoying and smiling back then. Haha
7. I’ll join more rf2 asia races from now on of course. It’s good to be back.

Formula Renaullt 3.5 - Round 5 - Silverstone

14 cars on the grid for the Round 5 of the Formula Renault 3.5 race in Silverstone last Sunday. An action packed race saw Niranjan Kumar is at it again by fetching another win (from pole position) this time from the closest challenger on the grid that day, Christopher Fraser from Sim Racing Australia Team Harmontown and Arwin Taruna from Sim Racing Indonesia with an epic Jagonya Ayam paintwork on the car.

Niranjan Kumar pace went un challenged from the start yet there are plenty of action happened up and down the grid all along the race. Most notably the contraversial incident between Gornes and Dani Antiquera.

Niranjan is comfortably leading the series by quite a margin to the nearest challenger, Arwin Taruna and Edmund Wong from Hong Kong Simracers. Fadzli Jamil unfortunately are not keen into running any open wheelers.

The race has been recorded and now waiting delayed commentary by Dan Marr. It will be published as soon as its ready. Stay tuned!

Flat 6 Series - Round 6 - Macau, Fadzli Jamil vs Niranjan Kumar!

A late report of the races (Sprint and Feature race) that took place here on the 10th of July saw Fadzli Jamil took the victory on the Sprint Race from Pole position out of 16 entrance,

The reverse grid Feature Race victory was snatched by Niranjan Kumar in a gruelling 40 minutes race thru the hellish narrow streets of Macau,

Fadzli had a tough time going thru the pack to finish third although was at one time won the battle for 2nd place duel with another blistering Malaysian, Kelvinder Singh, he made the mistake on the penultimate lap dropping him back to 3rd place.

The gap now in the Standings between Niranjan and Fadzli is down to 26 points with still 6 more rounds to go in the Series.

Gornes from Japan and Kelvinder Singh from Malaysia jumped to occupy the top 4 places, finally overcoming the absent Fani Lazuardy which is now 5th.

Race has been streamed live with commentary by Dan Marr for the first time although with huge delay in it, it adds to the excitement of the action on track!

Flat 6 Series - Pre Macau Standings

After the drama in Hidden Valley and the anticipation of the Macau race this Sunday, this is how the table looking with Niranjan planting his lead solid at the top.

And with Fadzli Jamil failing to gain advantage of Niranjan's struggle, Jacek Fraczek is creeping closer to that 2nd place in the championship standings.

Kelvinder Singh is the highest climber, 6 places up with 38 points, after the fireworks of a race with controversial racing with Darren in Hidden Valley.
Which Darren Whittington and Thomas Saunterchun is got straight into the midtable in their debut race scoring 28 and 20 points respectively. Their point-scoring debut have made plenty of guys, dropping places despite getting points.

Arwin Taruna and Imam Pratama from Sim Racers Indonesia also made their point-scoring race debut.

The laptimes are getting hotter (like the Macau race weather forecast this Sunday) and hotter and looks like we are going to have a screamer of a race!

Saturday Night Fever - GT Wars - Aiman Haziq takes the double!

First race in the brand-spanking-new Matsusaka circuit by 3PA which has been scheduled to include both day and night race session. Both has been a thrilling experience for the drivers being served the options of cars from BES, AMGT3 and the Enduracers Flat6 to choose from and to challenge for the race finish.

Race 1 showed Aiman (Malaysian Simracers) lost nothing in his pace after a long hiatus but Arwin (Sim Racers Indonesia) was not making it easy for him. Arwin lost the lead pretty early in the race after starting on pole position only 0.162 of a second ahead of Aiman's laptime.

Top 5 of the qualifying is just seperated within 1 second with Steven Bocade taking 3rd place on the grid, followed closely by Kelvinder Singh and Yong Jie Wong.

Yong Jie Wong managed to cure the ail of his rFactor 2 installation and finish the race without the game crashing on him but had a few scraps with the pack himself. Despite finishing last, he was lookign forward to the prospect of starting first in the Feature Race reversed grid starting on pole.
"Aiman's AMGT3 799 is slow at the corners, hence thats how i can get close but not enough to overtake him. In the straights the 799 is simply just faster so there were no way for me to overtake him". - Arwin

Arwin lost it at turn 1 few laps before the end and Aiman cruised to victory.

Steven Bocade managed to put his car on the grid despite being on the other side of the globe and despite a troubled start, he managed to wrestled his way through and finished 4th.

Jacek Fraczek celebrate his home race in Japan in his Nismo GT despite finishing 7th, a spot lower than his starting spot on the grid.

Audie Devanugraha (Sim Racers Indonesia) finished a spot higher 6th after starting 7th and his fellow countryman, Indra Feryanto made a decent stayed safe by finishing 8th after starting from the same spot on the grid. But do not let the race result sheet making you think that it was without any action involved. Everything has been captured in the stream of the race provided below.

Race 2 started with a reversed grid from Race 1 result. Going full 45 minutes race with will require one pitstop due to the increased fuel usage multiplier by 2x

Yong Jie Wong started on pole after finishing last in Race 1 and the whole pack traded paint and shuffled position all race long.

Everyone made 1 pitstop for fuel except Jacek Fraczek and Kelvinder Singh who have made 2 stops.

Aiman grabbed the win after leading the race from 8th place and took the lead only 4 laps into the race, being the climber on the race.
Steven Bocade climbed 3 places to finish second, 26s behind Aiman in his  BES Lamborghini Gallardo, and Kelvinder Singh also climbed 3 places to finish 3rd in his red Ferrari 458.

There has been many many incidents through out the race but luckily most of it has been caught in the stream. Words are not sufficient to describe the number of action involved despite
the size of the grid.

Congratulations to all participants!
